NFL Football

As summer winds down, people in America gear up for the NFL football season. With professional football as the highest attended sporting events in the United States, fans have shown their loyalty to their team and the sport.

The National Football League (NFL) was first started in 1920 in Ohio but was originally called the American Professional Football Association. Within two years however, the name was changed. Now it is most commonly referred to by players and fans as NFL football or just the NFL

NFL football consists of 32 teams divided into two separate divisions, the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference. Within each conference the NFL football teams are further divided by divisions, which are north, south, east, and west. This equals out to four teams in a division and 16 teams in a conference.

After each team plays 16 games during the regular season, those with the best records in each conference move on to post-season play. Those NFL football teams advancing compete in a single-elimination tournament, until a conference champion is declared. Then both the AFC and the NFC champions meet and play in the Super Bowl, which is located in a different city each year. The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event celebrated in the United States with fans and spectators gathering to watch the game in the stadium or in their homes. In fact, Super Bowl 2006 was the second most watched television broadcast ever.

After the Super Bowl one game does remain for fans. This is the Pro Bowl, which is held each year in Hawaii. The best players from all 32 teams are invited to take part in playing for their conference’s team. Last year, it hurt to be a Bill

Bitching about injuries is almost always weak. That's especially true in football, when the chance of everyone staying healthy for every game is about the same as me staying sober and coherent at an event featuring an open bar. But maybe, just this once, the Bills were warranted in moaning about their situation, as team facilities in 2007 seemed less like locker and training rooms and more like a leper colony. Not to wallow in excuses, but what this team put up with in regards to injuries was brutal to the point of being borderline unreal.

But NFL receivers are about to find out the Force-out is no longer with them, and that's something the fair-minded Yoda certainly would appreciate because it takes the game officials out of situations where they might have to make game-deciding decisions and, along with a couple of other changes, it provides balance to the force that is the NFL game.

Bills fans got a fine taste of the back's rushing pace, physicality, and drive during his rookie season, but he remained notably underused as a catcher out of the backfield. Already remarkably skilled at taking handoffs, Lynch needs more chances to be on the receiving end of forward passes, too.

Having come from Dallas, where the Cowboys effectively employed Marion Barber and Julius Jones as their running back tandem, it wasn't surprising to hear Sparano talk about Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams sharing carries in 2008. If nothing else, it's the sort of thing you'd expect a coach to say in April of his first year with a new team.
